General Information

Campus Accessibility

The university is committed to creating a campus that is accessible for all, and implementing standards for alterations, renovations and new buildings that ensure equal access.

All new campus buildings feature door, office and directional signs with embossed numbers and raster Braille. The Administrative Services Building provides a digital directory and Braille audio board for building and campus wayfinding. The university's newest residence building, scheduled for completion in January 2011, features a suite with overhead tracking and an adjustable bed. The new Athletics and Recreation building will be the first "barrier-free" building designed in western Canada and the second in the country.

A variety of initiatives - from workshops to theatre performances to conferences - are available to assist faculty, staff and community members in creating welcoming and inclusive environments.
